Key rules of Pool Rummy

The pool concept

In Pool Rummy, all players pay an entry fee into a set pool. The last player remaining wins all the money in the pool.

Sets and sequences

A set is made up of 3 to 4 cards of the same value but different suits. A sequence is made up of consecutive cards of the same suit. At least one pure sequence is required.

Point counting

In each round, the value of a losing player's unmatched cards is added as points. Any player whose points exceed the set limit is eliminated.

Joker card

A joker card can substitute for any card. However, a joker cannot be used in a pure sequence — this is an important rule to remember.

Declaring

Once all your cards are arranged into sets or sequences, declare. A correct declaration earns you zero points and wins you the round.

Drop option

If you feel your hand is weak, you can drop at any time. An early drop costs fewer points; a mid-game drop costs more points.
